Mission Trip Packing List

Pack Smartly, Serve Effectively

Packing for a mission trip can be overwhelming. Our complete list helps you bring exactly what you need—and nothing you don’t—so you can serve with confidence.

The Ultimate Mission Trip Packing List: Pack Well, Serve Well

A smart and thorough mission trip packing list is one of the keys to a successful trip. Packing right frees you from worry and allows you to focus on serving. Be sure to bring comfortable, culturally-appropriate clothing (check our country-specific guidelines), sturdy, broken-in shoes, and any specific ministry supplies your team leader has requested, like pens, games, or small gifts for your hosts. And of course, don’t forget the absolute essentials: your passport, Bible, a journal, and plenty of snacks for long travel days!

What to Pack for a Mission Trip: Planning for the Unexpected

When thinking about what to pack for a mission trip, it's wise to plan for the unexpected. We highly recommend including a personal first-aid kit with any specific medications you need, as well as basics like pain relievers and bandages. Insect repellent and sunscreen are always a good idea. Pack light, using layers, but be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Most importantly, leave expensive jewelry and electronics at home. Travel with an open mind, and you’ll quickly find you need far less than you think!

Your Spiritual Packing List

Beyond the physical items, remember to prepare your heart. Most mission trip essentials are spiritual. Pray over your team, the vehicles, your project supplies, and your heart before you leave home. Ask God to fill you with compassion, flexibility, a servant's heart, and humility as you go.
